What is anyone basing this "small amount of weed" on? What are the odds that the one mostly empty bag he was caught with and suspended for was either (a) his only or instance of use or (b) a new thing for him? All we know is that he used pot. Whether he'd been using for years or months and in what amounts we don't know.

And I'd maintain: All other things being equal, a kid who has been willing to knowingly break drug laws to get his kicks is more likely to respond violently than a kid who just loves Skittles. It is relevant for me in the narrative of who Trayvon Martin was and what tendencies he might have had.

TIME came out with an article earlier today that addresses your question.

The levels of THC detected don’t reflect Martin’s character or even his state of mind the night he was shot. For one, they are so low as to almost certainly not be connected to recent intoxication: 1.5 nanograms of THC were found as well as 7.3 nanograms of THC-COOH, a metabolite of THC that can stay in the system for weeks after cannabis has been smoked. Immediately after inhaling, THC levels typically rise to 100 to 200 nanograms per milliter of blood, although there can be a great deal of variation.

“THC in blood or urine tells us nothing about the level of intoxication,” says Carl Hart, associate professor of psychology at Columbia University and author of the leading college textbook on drug use and behavior. “That would be like someone going to have a beer some evening, and when he goes to work the next day, you can find alcohol metabolites in his bodily fluids. That says nothing about his functioning.” (Full disclosure: Hart and I are working on a book project together).

Moreover, even if Martin had been stoned out of his mind, it wouldn’t predispose him to violence. “I have given hundreds of doses of marijuana to people in the lab, and no one has gotten violent ever and everyone has been able to respond to the situation in an appropriate manner, when given low or large doses and single or repeated doses,” Hart says.

Given what we know of their respective histories thus far, Zimmerman (with at least two arrests for violence, an employment termination for erratic behavior, and multiple neighbor complaints) was more likely to anger and respond violently than was Martin.

BTW, I also agree that the Murder 2 charge was an overswing.

I have now found out many, I mean many, many of the orders are not being responded to as being filled or not.

When the stock was trading at $38, I put an order in at $38.10 to make sure I would get it. Now who knows what is going on. One good thing is I bought enough not to put a market order in. If I had, they could come back and say I bought at $50.

Watch, a lot of discount broker clients are going to be upset. If they didn't put in a limit like Moliere, they could get screwed. I think one discount place had 45,000 shares in to buy.

So as I guessed the syndicate group supported the stock at $38. It goes back up to $42. I call all over the place to see if I filled because I would like to take the quick $3,000. I call over the place trying to find out and they keep telling me they can't tell me yet. I still don't know if it filled.

I am sure glad I wasn't doing this for a client. I would have one pissed off client.

I only cooked bone-in when I bought them from Costco, but they certainly did cook faster. Bones don't transfer heat well, which is the theory as to why it takes longer.

Thanks for the update, creekster. I've been so busy lately that I have had no time to follow the cycling world recently. I caught about 20 minutes of the ATOC the other day while grabbing a bite for dinner, much to the chagrin of my two girls who were eager to catch the latest episode of Phineas and Ferb. But that is it.

By the way, have you seen the Phineas and Ferb episode with Greg Lemond? Very funny stuff.

What is your take on the rest of ATOC? I understand Sagan has been all-world so far in the sprint finishes, but having just lost the lead in the GC, is it now up to the climbers to take control of the race?

That's why I was more than stoked 10 years ago when they were throwing around the idea of the Hobbit being a 10-part HBO series.

I needed to get a new screen protector on my phone which means it's been out of the case. I forgot how much better it feels in my hand. Unfortunately, my tendency to drop my phone hasn't gone away, so I still want to have some kind of case. After reading Uncle Ted's post, I thought a bumper case would be a good compromise. Unfortunately, Apple's case scratches the metal. Are there any other bumper cases I should look at?

Any "husky" golfers on the site? I used to golf a lot but gave up after taking some lessons (which destroyed my ability to hit the ball). I'm not flexible (or stable, I suppose) enough to keep my hips quiet on the backswing, and I just can't seem to generate any power. Golf used to be a joy, but it's a complete chore now. I'd like to get my girls into it, though, so we can have something to do together when they get older and "too cool" for padre.

Any tips for a chunky, inflexible golfer (other than lose weight and stretch, haha)?

Get a swing trainer, and use it to increase flexibility and motion. I duct taped a hammer to a shortened old shaft and grip. It works great to keep the muscles lose and flexible in the winter.

Become accustomed to your swing restrictions and accept them, and don't try to swing harder than you should. Swing within yourself, and be comfortable with what you have to work with.

"But it's a complete chore" - I hear ya. But the fact that it's a complete chore means that it could be good for you. Recently I walked 18 holes for the first time, and it "was a complete chore." In fact my main consideration was making it back to the club house, and not my game. Now... I know I can do it, and I've lost some weight in the process. It sounds like you need to get out there and hoof it. Is there a more fun way to lose weight than golfing? I think not. I bet if you played 20 times between now and the end of July, you'd lose 20 pounds. Go for it!

There are already some decent rivalries on Big Ten OOC schedules. Hopefully, Big Ten OOC schedules improve with the PAC-12 alliance.
Michigan - Notre Dame
Michigan St. - Notre Dame
Purdue - Notre Dame
Iowa - Iowa St. (6-6 since 2000)

Playing a PAC-12 team in addition to Notre Dame will strengthen Michigan and MSU's OOC schedule since there's not much there except Notre Dame who is still trying to regain their standing as a top program.

I'd also like to see Illinois-Missouri back on the slate.

Based on past schedules of the traditional Big Ten "powers", Wisconsin and Penn St. have played the weakest OOC schedules. However, Penn St. has played Alabama the past couple of years so perhaps that is changing. Programs like Nebraska will continue to scheulde PAC-12 teams for recruiting purposes (especially the California schools) as well as try to schedule Florida teams like Miami. I'd love to see Nebraska resume a rivalry with Oklahoma but that's probably not going to happen. And if it does, it won't be on Thanksgiving weekend.
